For iOS and Android devices, Mozilla has released version 98 of its Firefox web browser. The new version has a revamped appearance and makes it simpler to download files. Mozilla Firefox is accessible on all major platforms.
The Firefox web browser has been continuously working on tiny tweaks to enhance the overall experience of its web browser across desktop and mobile devices since it received a new design in 2021, which it calls “Proton.”
However, this is also true for Firefox on iOS and Android, where its design was influenced by Apple’s attempts to improve its Safari browser on both platforms. You read correctly: the Firefox mobile browser’s address bar has been moved to the bottom of the screen, where it can also be used to create a background image for the main page.
Web users may access version 98 without downloading or updating the web browser; however, you can download or update the web browser from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
What changes have been made to downloads in Firefox 98?
Clearly, this is a release that is concerned with the manner in which files are downloaded and from whence they are downloaded. It’s something that many of us do practically every time we access the internet using a web browser. If you were using Internet Explorer back in the day, you could only download one file at a time, with a progress bar that showed how far you were along on a dial-up connection.
However, in Firefox 98, Mozilla has significantly improved download management, which is a welcome development given the state of the web since then.
Go to Download Reference Page: This function will locate the download reference page even if you leave the site or close the tab.
Create a copy of the download link so that you may share it or keep it on your computer.
Show in Folder: This option opens the folder that contains the files that you have downloaded.
Take a File Out of Your History: Takes a file out of your history of downloaded files.
Clear Preview Panel: This function clears the list of downloaded objects that appears in the preview panel that appears when you begin a downloading process.
Automatically Open Similar Files: This option causes Firefox to automatically open downloaded files of the same kind using the system’s default program whenever they are found.
If you download several files on a regular basis, these enhancements will be beneficial. In the case of designers or researchers, having Firefox recognize particular file types and know which app to open them in would reduce the number of steps between downloading a file and opening it in the app of your choosing.
It is possible that further modifications to Mozilla’s web browser may be introduced when the web browser approaches version 100 in the following months. However, even if we don’t, better management of your downloaded files is still a significant improvement in your workflow’s efficiency.
